“It is the mission of The Council i sinitiate positive change on behalf of individuals with developmental disabilities.”
Dear Friend,
For 60 years The Council has devoted itself to families, to their children and adults with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, spin bifida, and the entire spectrum of developmental and intellectual disabilities.
We need your help.
For many local charities and for many of our families, the last few years have been a real challenge. Contributions grants and other sources of help were declining at a time when many of our constituents’ needs were increasing.
Your generosity will prove to be quite important to the sustainability of our programs and the health of our mission. This year we have an ambitious plan to reach out to over 17,000 new households. Despite our record of successful outcomes, there are still so many families who are struggling to find effective ways to support their children, to afford them an opportunity to live in a world that embraces them, educates them, and affords dignity and inclusion.
We are also investing our time and resources to create systemic changes in Frankfort, by promoting laws that will better protect people with disabilities from abuse, neglect and exploitation. And hundreds of families with children in our public school system are receiving our training and support.
There is SO much work to be done and we need your support.
Please open your heart to the people we serve.
I promise you that we will be effective advocates and good stewards of your gift.
Warmly,
Donovan A. Fornwalt
Chief Executive Officer
