Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is the policy making body of the Council on Developmental Disabilities, and it is charged with carrying out the mission of the organization. The board is authorized to employ an Executive Director and other staff to conduct the business of attaining the goals and purposes of the Council.

The Council shall be operated as a non-profit, non-sectarian organization for the following purposes:

  •  To develop a better understanding and a more wholesome and helpful attitude on the part of the public and parents/families toward developmental disabilities.
  • To serve as a clearinghouse for information about developmental disabilities and community resources.
  •  To provide information and support to parents/families of persons with developmental disabilities.
  • To assist other agencies within the community, the region, and the state concerned with developmental disabilities.
  • To develop, sponsor, and/or operate services and programs for children and adults with developmental disabilities and their parents/ families.
  • To study and research the problems and causes of developmental disabilities.
  • To raise the funds necessary to accomplish these objectives.
  • To serve as an advocate for persons with developmental disabilities in seeking to ensure that the rights and privileges due all persons as citizens are afford to citizens with developmental disabilities in full and equal measure.
