Parents, you should know: Your involvement matters, you can get involved in many ways.
For over fifty years, since the Council on Developmental Disabilities was created by a group of concerned parents. Family Outreach activities have been a core part of the Council! About 30 years ago on a more formal basis, the Family Outreach program was established because parents realized the tremendous benefit they gained through their interaction with one another. Since that time the Council has provided a staff person who work with the Family Outreach Committee to develop ways to facilitate ongoing friendships between parent of infants, children, and adult children with developmental disabilities.
Families helping through information, support, and friendship. The Family Outreach Program assists families from birth through life with children whose disabilities can include:
