Best Buddies is the world’s largest non-profit organization, founded in 1989 by Anthony Kennedy Shriver. Best Buddies currently impacts over 300,000 people each year. Through mutually enriching friendships, Best Buddies volunteers gain a better understanding of themselves and those with special need. Through Best Buddies, people with intellectual disabilities make life-changing friendships. Together, Best Buddies participants build a more inclu-sive world, one friendship at a time! The Council on Developmental Disabilities is honored to be a host site coor-dinator for Best Buddies of Kentucky. We work closely with Bellarmine University volunteers, and are working with Spalding University. Our job is to find Best Buddies and their families who are interested in the program. If your family member with a disability is between the ages of 18 and 30 years, and would be interested in a mutually enriching one-to-one friendship with their peers without a disability, call: Mona Wilkerson at 584-1239.
